The New Museum in New York will reopen on March 21, 2026, after a major expansion designed by OMA, led by Rem Koolhaas and Shohei Shigematsu. The project nearly doubles the museum’s size by adding about 60,000 square feet of new galleries and public spaces next to the original SANAA-designed building. Key features include a large atrium stair, improved circulation, and new exhibition floors for larger and more flexible art displays.. Overall, the design strengthens the museum’s connection to the city and its role as a modern cultural center.
